Dr. Winscelaus Katagira is a Physician and Research Scientist at the Makerere University Lung Institute (MLI). He completed his masters in Internal Medicine in 2015 at Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. Besides managing patients with lung diseases at the Lung Institute clinic, he is very active in research. He has co-investigated on a number of research studies in Tuberculosis, Post-TB lung disease, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and airways diseases research including Asthma and COPD. His lung health research experience spans 10 years, having started out in TB research with a team looking at novel methods of improving TB diagnosis and treatment outcomes of TB patients.
He is currently a senior trial physician on STREAM stage 2 trial, an MDR-TB trial. He is passionate about improving the lives of individuals with a number of lung related illnesses. Winceslaus is the Research Scientist for LIGHT TB Uganda.
