Dr Brenda Mungai

Dr Brenda Mungai is an alumnus of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) with an MSc in Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases, and PhD in Global Health. An "IMPALA-let" , her multidisciplinary PhD study involved clinical research, operational modelling and health policy analysis, working in a multi-partner research consortium(IMPALA) with LSTM, AFIDEP and other partners.

With over 19 years of experience, Brenda is a Global Health Expert in TB and lung health, HIV, health systems management, and health policy. She has a proven track record in designing, implementing, and evaluating TB health programs, including deployment of innovative technologies like digital X-rays with AI. As a TB expert on the Global Fund Technical Review Panel (2019-2024), and a current Global Health Consultant, she has extensive experience working with high TB burden countries in Africa. She has additional expertise in research, developing and reviewing strategic guidance documents, proposals, grants, funding requests, investment plans, and budgets.

Brenda has collaborated with various stakeholders including Ministries of Health, National, Regional and Global Health organizations, funding agencies, technical partners, project implementers, beneficiaries, research and academic institutions. She is a self-motivated team player with strong leadership qualities and will be a valuable addition to the LIGHT Consortium.
