Ms Rhoda Pola

Rhoda joined the LIGHT Consortium in January 2024 in the capacity of a research coordinator and a field epidemiologist, having successfully completed the Field Epidemiology Training Programme (FELTP-Kenya). She is currently based in ReSoK, Kenya. In her new role within LIGHT, Rhoda will be looking at high TB prevalence among young people in Kenya using a gender lens.

Rhoda brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role, grounded in a solid foundation as a clinician, a Master of Sciences degree in Epidemiology from Moi University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Health Systems Management. She draws on 12 years work experience in the Tuberculosis (TB) field. Prior to joining LIGHT, Rhoda worked, for 5 years, at the National TB programme in Kenya as a programme officer in charge of the roll out of the new TB Preventive therapy guidelines. Before joining the NTP, she worked, for 7 years, with the county government of Kwale, Lungalunga Sub-County, as a Malaria, TB and Leprosy coordinator.

Rhoda's passion for research, particularly in the realm of adolescents and young adults, has been a driving force throughout her career. This commitment was reflected in her Master's thesis project, where she explored the factors associated with non-adherence to TB treatment among school-going children in Meru County. Rhoda strives to contribute to improving the quality of life of the society.
