Research Uptake & Engagement
LIGHT aims to engage strategically with a range of key national, regional, and global stakeholders to ensure that our research is informed, relevant, effectively communicated, and timely for maximum impact. This includes utilising LIGHT evidence in policy discussions to demonstrate how gender-responsive policies can significantly enhance access to TB prevention, diagnosis, and care.
Some of the key engagement activities that the LIGHT consortium carries out include:
- Engagement in key events which contribute to strengthening and solidifying the consortium’s presence at international, national, and regional fora. Such events include participation in international high-level meetings (e.g. United Nations High Level Meeting in New York 2023); presenting LIGHT's work at scientific conferences; contributing and reviewing National TB strategies or plans. - Engagement in networking activities with key stakeholders and ensuring LIGHT’s messages are relevant and timely communicated with the right stakeholders for greater influence/ impact (e.g. meetings with All Party Parliamentary Groups APPG-UK; organising coordinated events with the WHO & TB networks such as UKAPTB. - Engagement with the wider TB communities and networks to join efforts for maximum impact
- Engagement with a wide range of audience including local communities in African partner countries and the UK; TB survivors and advocates; researchers; funding bodies; decision makers and health care workers to communicate our research findings and key messages, contributing to raising awareness and providing solutions towards ending TB.
